Almond Blossom

La Nucia is located in a quiet valley, 10 km. from Benidorm, 53 kms. from Alicante and 115 km. from Valencia. It has the best known flea market on the Costa Blanca, with over 400 stalls every Sunday. It is surrounded by the beautiful Sierra de Bernia, a haven for mountain-bikers and hikers.

The climate of La Nucia is typically Mediterranean, with its close proximity to the sea, and being surrounded by high mountains that shelter it from the cold winds of the North.

In the area, there are many traditional festivals every year that attract visitors. The local Moors & Christians festivals with their stunning costumes and many local fiestas, including the one in Benidorm with its fantastic fireworks, are all well worth experiencing.

La Nucia and the Costa Blanca have some very lively nightlife with most places staying open until the early hours of the morning. There are always many La Nucia bars and La Nucia restaurants offering live music and some hotels even have after dinner dancing.

The surrounding areas of La Nucia are simply wonderful!

To the north the historic hilltop pueblo of Polop is nearby, with the town of Collosa d'’n Sarria about 5 km away. Local attractions include the Fonts de L’Algar, a local beauty spot where it is possible to swim in the pools and waterfalls, the spectacular fortified hillytop village of Guadalest, which was one of the last places in Spain to hold out against the Christians, and the wine producing Jalon Valley with its bodegas, Saturday market and many lunchtime restaurants at Alcalali. The whole coast is served by an attractive local railway terminating at the small port of Denia, with its castle, Roman connections and ferry to Ibiza town.

EASTWARDS
To the east is the attractive costal town of Altea in the centre of its crystal clear blue bay, framed by the Penon de Ifrach in the north and Benidorm mountain to the south. Amongst the cobbled alleyways are many attractive bars, restaurants and craft shops. In the main square at the top of the hill with its blue domed church, sit for a drink and watch the sun slips away in a spectacular sunset. Calpe boasts a fishing port and the Penon de Ifrach National Park (a huge rock which looks like Gibraltar – it is possible to walk to the top). Albir is a quiet local beach resort with a clean pebble/shingle beach with lounger hire.
